**Summary**
We are seeking a skilled Hardware Technician to join our growing team at National Contract Glazing Ltd. This position is vital in ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of hardware components in various construction projects, contributing to our commitment to quality and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabrication: Fabricate aluminum doors, frames, and components according to blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings using tools such as saws, drills, and welding equipment.
- Preparation: Prepare materials for installation, including cutting, drilling, and assembling aluminum frames and hardware components to precise measurements.
- Installation: Install aluminum doors, frames, and hardware (e.g., hinges, locks, closers, panic devices) at job sites, ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and compliance with building codes and safety standards.
- Hardware Installation: Install and adjust door hardware, including locks, handles, and automatic operators, ensuring smooth operation and security.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products and installations for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing aluminum doors and hardware systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other trades to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including measurements, materials used, and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in aluminum door fabrication, preparation, or installation; experience with commercial door systems preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in reading blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications; skilled in using fabrication tools (e.g., CNC machines, saws, grinders) and installation equipment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with aluminum door systems (e.g., storefronts, curtain walls) and hardware brands (e.g., Schlage, Von Duprin, LCN).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AHC, CDC, or manufacturer-specific training) are a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with welding (MIG/TIG) for aluminum fabrication.
- Knowledge of ADA compliance and fire-rated door requirements.
- Familiarity with automated door systems and access control integration.
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
