**About AFABC**

For more than 40 years, the Adoptive Families Association of British Columbia (AFABC) has been dedicated to providing ground-breaking programs for families, children, and youth. We also help find families for the children and youth in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development who are waiting for a permanent home.

We strive to inform, support, educate, and connect everyone in the adoption and permanency community. We welcome prospective and waiting adoptive parents and guardianship, kinship, moral, and custom adoption families, as well as those formed through legal adoption.

Our office is located on the ancestral, unceded lands of the səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. AFABC is committed to listening, learning, and participating in reconciliation.

**Position Summary**

This is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours/week; core hours 9am-4.30pm) with a competitive salary.

The Program Assistant provides administrative support for program development and delivery of online courses and workshops, Learning Management System (LMS) and Client Record Management (CRM) administration, marketing content and development, and data collection and reporting. The Assistant acts as Registrar for the department and works closely with staff members and other stakeholders.

Compensation will be based on a full-time competitive salary depending on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $43-48,000 per annum. AFABC’s benefits include a home office allowance, a comprehensive benefits package (AFABC pays 100% of premiums), an RRSP matching program, 3 weeks of annual vacation, and support for ongoing professional development.

AFABC works in close partnership with the Ministry for Children and Family Development and has for several years been providing youth in and from care. Looking ahead, AFABC will develop more partnerships with indigenous-led organizations, community groups, service providers and funders to provide a broader array of services to vulnerable young people and their families in British Columbia.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage the registrar function including event creation, coordination and scheduling, participant registration communication, and course certification
- LMS course preparation and coordination, management, and participant management
- Perform LMS/CRM maintenance
- Attend and participate in department and organizational meetings as required
- Create, edit, and disseminate print and digital materials
- Develop and manage inter and intra-departmental marketing schedules
- Support the development and updating of educational learning resources
- Oversee the continuity of brand compliance across educational products
- Data collection, entry, and management
- Prepare and review reports to support organizational objectives and groups, including accreditation, committee, and board activities
- Manage data for the purposes of reporting to the organization, board, and funders

**Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills**
- Completion of a Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism or other relevant area of study, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Lived adoption or permanency experience is an asset.
- Connection to the Indigenous community is an asset.

**Desired Qualification, Experience and Skills**
- Familiar with non-profit/ charitable contexts and dependency on multiple funding sources
- Ability to work collaboratively with the management team towards strategic organizational goals
- Ability to meet departmental contract deliverables and goals efficiently and effectively
- Ability to organize and manage work with mínimal supervision
- Strong written, verbal, and online communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite; ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong working knowledge of learning management systems (LMSs), and Moodle
- Strong working knowledge of customer relationship management databases (CRMs) and project management software
