Lead Groundskeeper

Lead Groundskeeper - Seasonal
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Lead Groundskeeper is responsible for the professional care of (2) exceptional outdoor grass soccer fields, performing a variety of skilled activities requiring experience, competency and physical abilities.
Seasonal Contract: April to November mid-afternoon duties (flexible)

Duties include:

- Create soil sample testing programs with lab result reports
- Winterization programs
- Document retention and control
- Irrigation monitoring, management and control
- Product purchasing and inventory control
- Weekly site visit (time TBD)
- Equipment monitoring and various repairs where possible
- Work with site managers and supervisors

**Education**:

- A degree in Horticulture, Grounds Keeping and Landscaping or diploma with operational experience
- Pesticide certification
- WHMIS certification
- Graduate of or enrolled in a recognized Turf Management Course preferred but not required
- Calibration and Fertilization certification preferred

**Experience**:

- Minimum (5) years golf course or sports field experience
- Previous management or supervisor experience
- Preferred knowledge of POA Supina / Icon grass
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and programs
- Familiarity and proper use knowledge of various grounds keeping equipment
- Moisture monitoring and reports

**Skills**:

- Highly organized with proven decision making skills and proven ability to obtain sports field turf positive results.
- Good ability to share professional advice, direction, assistance and services to the facilities management and team as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including building effective professional relationships with industry partners, suppliers and local contacts.
- Communicates comfortably and professionally within a corporate environment.
