We are currently accepting resumes for employment as an **Experienced Income Tax Preparer on-site** in our tech-friendly office in Gasoline Alley, Red Deer County.

The successful applicant will primarily **prepare personal income tax returns** and provide additional production (accounting, bookkeeping) and administrative support as needed in a team environment.

The **initial contract** term will be from January 2025 **until May 2025**, with a highly probable **extension for an anticipated maternity leave until May 2026**. Growth of firm during this period **may develop into a permanent position.**

**High-volume personal income tax preparation experience is required.**

Preference will be given to those with CPA firm / public practice experience that demonstrate **extremely high computer skills**.

**Job Duties**
- Prepare personal tax returns, GST, and other tax compliance (ex: T4, T5, T1135, UHT, and others) ensuring compliance with government standards
- Prepare and summarize accounting records for business, farm, rental, and vehicle expense statements.
- Provide assistance with administrative support duties like scanning, sorting, and converting client paper records to electronic format as a key member of the production team
- Respond to basic compliance related questions and queries from clients
- Raise identified tax filing issues with management
- Investigate and correct irregularities in financial information, documents, and reports with limited oversight
- Update colleagues through our detailed file tracking system on the progress of files on a real-time basis
- Collaborate with other staff members to effectively work together in order to achieve team success
- Assume responsibility for your own performance and be efficient in managing a high workload in a time-pressured deadline situation
- Work with tax preparation software (TaxCycle), bookkeeping software (Xero, Quickbooks, Sage) and provide support to clients using our secure (ShareFile) system.

**Experience Requirements**
- Tax preparation experience working on **hundreds of returns** in a CPA firm environment
- Preference will be given to those with at least two (2) years of recent tax preparation experience
- Experience in communicating with complete strangers (ie: the public) and customers in a professional manner
- Demonstrated a high level of computer literacy in previous work environment. For example, creating formulas and spreadsheets from a blank form in Microsoft Excel. **(as a tech-focused firm we cannot stress this enough)**

**Technology Assets**
- **Extremely strong computer literacy** is a must. See: tech-focused firm above.
- Self-motivated to learn new software changes quickly
- Familiarity in using high-volume tax preparation software: (example: TaxCycle, ProFile, TaxPrep, DTMax).
- **Advanced **skills in Microsoft Excel (as well as utilizing MS Teams, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro _(not Adobe Reader)._
- Experience working with multiple bookkeeping software packages both online and on desktop including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
