**Under the direction of the school principal, the Interpreter is responsible for**:

- providing interpreting and other support services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students;
- facilitates communication among deaf and/or hard of hearing students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school system;
- offers tutoring and/or note taking services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students when necessary;
- participates in team meetings and assists the classroom teacher in fostering positive attitudes toward deafness;
- and performs other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor.

**Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**:

- Secondary school diploma;
- a three year Community college diploma in sign language interpreting;
- 1.5 years of related experience;
- excellent communication skills;
- the ability to establish a rapport and work with individuals on a one-to-one basis;
- initiative and commitment;
- and the ability to work as a team member.
- Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

**In addition, the following will be considered an asset**:

- Membership in the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI) and the Ontario Interpreter Services (O.I.S.);
- and NVCI, CPR and First Aid.

**Salary: This is a permanent, full-time (1.0), ten month position with an annual salary range of $56,531.00 - $60,859.00. A comprehensive employee benefits package is provided.**

**The expected start date is September 1, 2025.**

You will be required to provide a negative Original Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector dated within the last 6 months if successful in the hiring process.
