Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to ensure that we develop, obtain and maintain sufficient sales levels (with adequate margin) to allow us to achieve our annual volume and EBIT targets.

Key factors contributing to the success of this role include developing an effective strategic framework that allows for timely identification of opportunities to grow the business and improve margin, with the ultimate goal of solidifying Lafarge as the recognized leading supplier of high quality custom concrete products within the marketplace. In addition to leading the Sales team, this role is responsible for setting sales targets and assisting with the successful coordination between the operational departments to achieve results. Clearly communicating project expectations and priorities as well as ensuring the team is aware of the commitments Lafarge Precast has made to its clients and customers is also an important aspect of the role.

- Reports directly to the Concrete Products, General Manager. Coordinates with Precast Sales Managers in WCAN as well as the Sales Departments in our other Business units. Estimators and Sales staff will report directly to this individual. Territory includes Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

- Identify customer needs and translate them into sales opportunities.
- Ensure that we obtain sufficient volume of work with adequate margins to allow us to achieve our targeted EBIT.
- Maintain a customer and influencer database that is electronically stored and available to all concerned individuals.
- Ensure that a loyal customer base is developed.
- Maintain electronically stored tracking system for potential projects.
- Establish pricing policies; make final price decisions on projects.
- Track plant loading and market share of our competitors.
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities both geographically and by product with the Business Unit Manager based on market segmentation analysis.
- Develop new prospects and present preliminary budgets, promote negotiated projects when possible.
- Ensure other department managers (Operations, Engineering and QC) have a clear understanding of the expectations of our clients.
- Ensure there is a clear process to communicate budgets, product specifications and client expectations to all departments.
- Negotiate all legal contracts between the Business Unit and our client base.

- 6 employees (4 Winnipeg, 2 Saskatchewan)
- Customers-Large and varied customer base.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Supervise and motivate Sales and Estimating staff.
- Ensure that accurate estimates are prepared with input from engineering, production, installation, and all necessary subcontractors.
- Track our plant schedule and product types to ensure that we have a sufficient backlog of profitable work.
- Assist the Business Unit Manager in setting sales budgets.
- Achieve sales objectives.
- Develop market pricing data, analyze data and make pricing decisions that satisfy our volume and margin targets on a project by project basis. This will be done with input from the Business Unit Manager.
- Work with Industry Groups and Organizations to promote Precast use in Western Canada.

Qualifications:

- Technical Diploma or Degree with a minimum of 10 years of construction related experience.
- Strong sales aptitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of industrial and commercial building construction practices.
- Good organization and planning skills.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to travel within Canada and the United States.
