Learn more at vahs.life .Job SummaryThe Casual Medical Office Assistant (MOA) supports the smooth operations of the VAHS Primary Care Clinic on an as-needed basis. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, the MOA serves as the first point of contact for clients and ensures the clinic remains welcoming, safe, and culturally grounded.The MOA provides administrative and clinical support, helps maintain electronic medical records, and contributes to a team-based approach that centers on trauma-informed and culturally safe care.This role reports to the Clinic Operations Supervisor and is supported by the Lead MOA.Key ResponsibilitiesReception & Client SupportGreet and check in clients with warmth and professionalismRegister new clients, book appointments, and follow up on referrals and diagnostic test requestsAnswer phone calls, direct inquiries, and provide general information about clinic servicesSupport clients in navigating services, including transportation and outreach referralsEnsure the clinic environment remains clean, comfortable, and culturally safeAdministrative TasksMaintain electronic medical records (OSCAR), including scanning, filing, and document linkingProcess incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, records, and lab resultsOrganize and restock exam rooms and office supply areasMonitor medication and supply expiry datesClinical SupportAssist with urine testing and recording vitals (e.g. blood pressure, height, weight)Ensure lab specimens are labeled and sent correctlyDisinfect exam rooms and support clinic sterilization proceduresGeneralSupport intake worker and other team members as neededPerform other duties as required by clinic operationsQualificationsCompletion of a Medical Office Assistant programMinimum 2 years experience in a community-based primary care or clinic setting preferredExcellent communication, organization, and computer skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsKnowledge of medical terminology and Indigenous health contextsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentComfortable working independently and collaborativelyAssetsFamiliarity with the OSCAR electronic medical record systemExperience working with Indigenous and/or inner-city populationsExperience with urine testing and taking vitalsHow to ApplyPlease email your resume and cover letter (in PDF format) to: Email: admin@vahs.life Subject Line: MOA Application – CasualWe thank all applicants for their interest.
