The City of Coquitlam has an exciting opportunity for a Wellness and Retention Advisor to join our Human Resources team in this brand new role to the City. In this position, you will report to the Organizational Development and Training Manager and work alongside them to support the City to identify trends affecting employee wellness while proactively implementing strategies to enhance employee engagement and ensure that a positive employee experience is at the forefront of City activities.
As a growing City, we are looking for the successful applicant to take a proactive approach to the future of our employees and to work with the Human Resources management team to enhance the employee life cycle as we look to retain great employees while bringing on board more great talent.
- The Wellness and Retention Advisor can look forward to making recommendations and driving forward wellness and retention strategies and best practices.
- You will be well-versed and knowledgeable in initiatives focused on the employee life cycle, wellness activities and events and will have sound experience in carrying out employee retention initiatives that focus on and advocate for a positive work environment.
- The focal point of employee engagement in this role will be to further enhance our cohesive team culture across the city while promoting individual career development, growth opportunities, and a sense of pride in giving back to the local community. You will create and spearhead the employee experience program for the City, which would entail providing program updates, preparing and executing social wellness events, providing communication to employees through multiple channels.
- You are a team player who is passionate and experienced in wellness, organizational development, and well versed in retention on an organizational level. This will serve you well as you work alongside multidisciplinary colleagues on various wellness and retention activities.
- Other responsibilities of this position include attaining insights to employee engagement, developing action plans to address areas of improvement, as well as supporting the Manager in preparing reports, presentations and documents as required.
As a leader in human resources you should have the following qualifications.
- You should have a degree focusing on Business Administration, Organizational Development, Leadership, Organizational Behaviour, Adult Education, or a related field.
- You will bring forward a minimum of 3-5 years’ formal work experience at a Coordinator or Advisor level where you were accountable for coordinating and driving similar human resources initiatives and advising on people-focused changes within the organization.
- Holding a CPHR designation or experience working in a public sector environment will be considered an asset.
