**THE OPPORTUNITY**
The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team for a temporary full-time opportunity in the capacity of Media Assistant. This is a 12 - month position to commence as soon as possible with an unknown end date. Media Assistant will be reporting to the Supervisor, Library & Media Services.
**LOCATION**: Terry James Resources Centre (500 Victoria Road N., Guelph, ON, N1E 6K2)
**HOURLY RATE**:Base hourly rate**:$23.01 to $28.00 per hour; wage rate effective September 1, 2024
**FTE/HOURS**:The Media Centre is open Monday to Thursday until 5:30 p.m. and Friday until 4:30 p.m. This position works 35 hours per week which involves at least 2 closing shifts. Additional closing shifts may be required
**BOARD INFORMATION**:12-month position; Temporary full-time; OCT Union
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist Board staff in their use of equipment in the media centre, including computer workstations, laminating, bookbinding, photocopying, Cricut-maker, etc.
- Assist with duties in the Terry James Resource Centre when required
- Assist with managing Papercut accounts specific to the Media Centre
- Be able to serve the UGDSB community in a professional and timely manner
- Coordinate with approved vendors for offsite print and media jobs
- Purchase, implement and maintain a wide variety of equipment and supplies for the Media Centre
- Prepare and create resources for Board staff including but not limited to classroom resources, Board presentations, Program Resources, etc.
- Responsibilities for opening and closing shift duties include locking/unlocking the door; turning equipment on/off; alarm system; ensuring the TJRC has no remaining occupants; other duties as required for the safe and secure opening and closing of the TJRC
- Work with the Supervisor of Library & Media Services to Implement and abide by the Canadian Copyright Act & Fair Dealing Guidelines when completing print and media requests
- Track all media and print jobs into our online chargeback ledger for billing purposes
- Work as part of a team to support the Terry James Resource Center as required
- Work with our vendors to ensure service calls are placed for printers, posters machine, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
**Experience and Qualifications**:
- O.S.S.D or equivalent
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and some heavy lifting will be required
- Excellent organizational, written and customer service skills
- Strong time management skills
- Willingness to work as part of a team
