**BUS DRIVER (Temporary)**
The Trico Centre is known in the community as a facility that provides a healthy and safe place for active members of our community. We strive to be a fun, positive and inclusive work environment. The Trico Centre is currently looking for a part time Bus Driver. This position is responsible for driving and operating Trico Centre for Family Wellness’s bus in a safe and timely fashion. The role provides transportation support to our programs and patrons participating in our Out of School Program. The role is primarily responsible for transporting children to various schools for the **morning and afternoons (Monday - Friday) during the school year, with the possibility of summer employment - approximately 5 - 6 hours per day. Position anticipated start date as soon as possible and**ends June 30**th**, 2025, with the possibility of an extension.**
**Qualifications**:
- Clean Drivers abstract with no more than four (4) demerits. Must provide abstract yearly on anniversary date or as requested by employer.
- Successful completion of Class 2 government medical upon hire with a follow-up medical every three (3) years after
- Valid Class 2 Alberta driver’s license with “S” endorsement on Operators Licence is required.
- Current Police Security Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last 90 days is mandatory with no convictions or charges.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
**Experience/Skills Required**:
- Five (5) years of driving experience
- Mature, responsible, and enthusiastic
- Experience supervising children in a group setting
- Reliable, punctual, with strong organizational skills
- Ability to deal with a varied and busy work environment.
- Able to work a split shift schedule and enjoys driving.
- Willing to drive and accommodate professional development days and scheduled fieldtrips.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Operates the Trico Centre bus in compliance with all transportation safety laws as required under Alberta Provincial Transportation Traffic Safety Act
- Maintain a regular and punctual schedule, ensuring students are picked up and dropped off on time.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition; report any issues to the Programs Manager or the Facility Operations Manager.
- Obeys all posted speed limits and reduce speed according to road, weather, visibility conditions and vehicle type.
- Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained both inside and outside.
- Promotes a safe and respectful environment with staff and children.
- Assist students with boarding and disembarking the bus, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Adhere to all emergency procedures, including evacuations and first aid if necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, including mileage logs, fuel consumption, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with Out of school staff regarding route changes, delays, and any other relevant information.
- Attend regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on regulations and best practices.
- Uphold a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with students and parents.
- Report any behavioral or safety concerns involving students to the appropriate Out of School Coordinator or Director
- Develop a solid understanding of the routes, stops, and navigation to ensure efficient and timely travel.
- Respond calmly and effectively to unexpected situations such as traffic delays or challenging student behavior.
- Follow proper procedures for loading and unloading students.
- Works as team member with all relevant departments within Trico Centre
- Delivers the bus to the designated maintenance or repair shop as required
- Demonstrates and promotes a clear understanding of Trico Centre’s mission, vision, values and goals.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Adequate vision and hearing capabilities to ensure safe driving and communication.
- Ability to assist students with boarding and disembarking the bus, which may involve some physical effort.
- Ability to handle emergency situations and assist with evacuations if necessary.
**Working Conditions**: School Bus Drivers typically work on a part-time basis, following school schedules. They may also work during extracurricular activities or field trips. The job involves early morning hours and afternoon shifts, with occasional flexibility required for special events or changes in the schedule.
