**Summer Research Assistant - Bible Hill, NS**

To assist in this effort, we are seeking full-time **Summer Research Assistants**.

This position is based in Kentville N.S. but will require regular travel within Central Nova Scotia (travel expenses reimbursed) and occasional travel around Nova Scotia. Early mornings, late afternoons and occasional weekend work is expected from time to time. Project work will require extended periods of time outdoors as well as data entry and research preparation as needed.

**Principal Responsibilities**:
The Summer Research Assistant’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Assist in the planting, spraying, maintaining, evaluating, and harvesting of agriculture research trials.
- Accurately collect, enter, and manage research data.
- Maintain, transport, and operate research equipment.
- Assist with tours at key demonstration sites.
- Perform literature searches and assist with development of technical information (e.g. factsheets, videos, etc.).

Currently enrolled in an agriculture or related science degree (Environmental Science, Biology), completion of first or second year of undergraduate study
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working outside in the elements
- Capable of lifting up to 20 kg.
- Self-starter and willing to accept responsibility.
- Adaptable to various work environments
- A basic understanding of agronomic practices.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle

**Experience Gained**:

- Will be exposed to a variety of agricultural research projects in the field. Student will be working closely with experienced scientists, pathologists, commodity specialists, and research associates.
- Will gain a broad understanding of the agri-food industry in Nova Scotia and the issues faced by local commodity growers.
- Will gain experience using diverse field equipment
- Will gain an understanding of the growth and analysis of agricultural commodity products as applied to real world situations. Examples collection of field trial data for efficacy and research projects, and exploratory research on new agricultural commodities for the support of Nova Scotia’s rural economy.

This position will run from May 2025 to August 2025 for a period of 16 weeks. The work week will be 35.0 hours per week, with some flexibility in working hours required.
