**Job Description**:
Temporary Part Time (11 Positions Available)

Clinical Externs are unregulated health care providers and will work as part of an interprofessional team under supervision of regulated health care providers. This is a paid position as part of the Ontario Government's Enhanced Extern Program (EEP)._**
Positions are available in the following areas: _Emergency Department, Medicine_
**Rate of pay**: $23.79/hr
**Contract End Date**:Dependent on nursing program completion date
**Shift**:12 Hour Shifts - Days, Nights, Weekends (0700-1900 or 1900-0700)
**Qualifications**:
- ** Nursing Students in any year of study and enrolled in a CNO approved baccalaureate or diploma nursing program - you must be able to provide proof of enrollment**:
- Successful completion of a recent clinical placement in an acute care area preferred
- Students who have successfully completed a recent clinical placement preferred
- Current certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support required
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent academic standing
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
- Excellent clinical skills and competencies
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Good attendance record
**Duties**:
- Practices under the direct and/or indirect supervision of regulated health care providers
- Practices in a manner consistent with organizational policies, professional standards, while taking into account CNO guidance for unregulated care providers
- Works with unit nurses to ensure that they have the knowledge, skills and judgment needed to perform all actions/duties
- Provides assistance with lifting, turning, transferring, transporting, and ambulating as per the hospital policy.
- Provides measures to ensure skin integrity and reduce pressure injuries.
- Assists with comfort measures and patient safety by ensuring the environment is clean and tidy and free of hazards.
- Requests assistance with assigned duties whenever in need
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Participates as an effective member of an interprofessional team- The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH._
