YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will plan, organize, direct and control the operational activities of the Municipal Buildings Unit and related operations. You will manage the maintenance and rehabilitation of City-owned structures, systems and equipment, including repair and maintenance and construction projects.
You also participate in the preparation of the unit's annual budget, ensure its execution, control its costs and recommend effective solutions. You manage the human, financial, material and information resources of your unit in accordance with the rules, standards, regulations and collective agreements in effect. You will work closely with other managers to optimize the performance of daily operations.
You will have to introduce your new role and create a greater synergy between the teams as well as an integrated vision of all maintenance operations under your responsibility.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following:
Authorizes repairs and ensures the control and compliance of the work performed (structure, system and equipment) by employees and subcontractors while ensuring the required corrective measures and reporting periodically when necessary.
Evaluate the priorities for maintaining the unity of municipal buildings and related operations and conduct the necessary analysis to propose recommendations for short, medium, long term and preventive work.
Assists in estimating construction and maintenance costs.
Manage the department's human resources while ensuring performance evaluation in collaboration with the general management.
Supervises and organizes the work team in order to carry out the maintenance work and programs according to the collective agreement in force.
Plan the annual (general) and weekly (specific) schedule of tasks to be done by the department and ensure its follow-up.
Ensure the

Ensures that you are aware of the necessary codes and regulations.
TAKE UP THIS CHALLENGE IS TO
As a future member of the management team, you are a natural collaborator that promotes teamwork and good working relationships with all stakeholders. You have strong technical skills building mechanical or in municipal/civil engineering, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ideally, you are fluent in both official languages, with experience from the private sector or the public/municipal sector. You are an accredited professional in Canada with a post-secondary diploma as well as relevant experience in your field of expertise and team management.
You have a well-deserved reputation for finding solutions to sometimes complex problems. You have experience working in a unionized environment and your experience allows you to manage effectively and with confidence. You have the ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner, confidently present reports and make recommendations based on in-depth analysis and reliable risk assessment. You are efficient and can work both strategically and practically and recognize opportunities for improvement.
Analytical and detail-oriented, you are a planner and a champion of occupational health and safety.
Your leadership style is inclusive, and you inspire your teams to reach new heights of dedication and continuous improvement. You have a solid technical knowledge of the full range of functions required by building maintenance works.
