As the Lead Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for overseeing maintenance planning, scheduling and control of Calgary Transit's (CT) Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) fleet. This role involves directing the activities of Technical Advisors and maintenance staff by providing technical support on the onboarding and commissioning of the Green Line Urbos 100 LRVs, leading quality assurance inspections, developing maintenance plans and training documents, and supporting the design, construction and outfitting of a new Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF). The role will evolve into managing warranty and claims and support train systems reliability and maintenance after the new fleet is commissioned. Primary duties include:
- Direct Technical Advisors and maintenance staff to support the commissioning of the new LRV fleet, including quality assurance inspections, setting up new units in a Maintenance Management System (M5), and procuring parts and tools.
- Develop maintenance plans and training documentation based on the manufacturer's recommendations and industry best practices.
- Work with MSF Team Lead to forecast workforce, parts and materials, and costs for preventative, reliability and rebuild maintenance programs.
- Analyze maintenance activities and costs and provide recommendations to improve LRV operations and maintenance.
- Provide design specifications, procurement input and vendor evaluations to ensure cost-effective, high-quality original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket parts.
- Approve part substitutions due to obsolescence or supersession and support technicians in troubleshooting complex issues using internal and external resources.
- Oversee projects, including budgeting, workforce planning, progress tracking and technology integration, while performing cost analyses and mitigating risks.
- Maintain maintenance records, technical documentation, and historical data for LRV fleet management.
- Diagnose and resolve LRV issues, leveraging technical drawings, calculations, and experimental tests.
- Research and implement emerging transit technologies, collaborating with vendors, OEM, and industry professionals.

**Qualifications**
- A completed Journeyperson certificate and at least 8 years of Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) maintenance experience with advanced technical knowledge in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems on transit vehicles OR;
- A completed diploma in an Engineering related discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and not current charges or suspension pending is required.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Previous experience as a Technical Advisor is a strong asset.
- Leadership experience is considered an asset, completion of leadership training programs is desirable.
- Proficient in maintenance systems, data analysis, and reporting, with expertise in creating reports, managing documentation, and utilizing software for planning, scheduling and procurement.
- Proficient in M5, SAP Ariba, PeopleSoft Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM), and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of various automotive diagnostic software is an asset.
- Experience in creating technical documentation and conducting experimental tests.
- Understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting and workforce planning.
- Skilled in developing, integrating, and implementing new technologies and modifications for transit operations, with strong research abilities to explore emerging advancements.
- Strong ability in clearly communicating technical concepts to varied audiences (staff, leadership and partners) and collaborating within teams.
