**Employment Opportunity**: Jordan’s Principle Coordinator **Location**: Halifax, NS **Salary Range**: $85,000.00 year **Employment Term**: Contract Hire Date - March 31, 2026 (possibility of renewal), Full time hours (35 hours/ week) **General Description**: Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of Halifax and is looking for **One (1) Jordan’s Principle Coordinator.** The Jordan Principle Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Jordan’s Principle team to provide support for children and families navigating the Jordan’s Principle system. The Jordan Principle Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Urban Indigenous Community as well as internal/external service providers to ensure Indigenous children are funded for appropriate services in a way that is reflective of their distinct cultural needs and that meets the children’s complex needs. This position is responsible for the overall operations of the Jordan’s Principle program; budgeting, fundraising, proposal writing, and employee management. **Key Responsibilities**: - Ensure that program delivery is congruent with the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre’s mission, vision, and philosophy by representing the unique needs within the urban Indigenous community. - Supervise and manage a team of employees (performance evaluations, attendance management, problem solve employee issues) - Monitor and approve employee time off requests and timesheets in the MNFC HRIS in a timely manner - Provide support through a child and family-based approach to coordinator and connecting services - Work towards establishing multi-disciplinary hubs (social/ academic/ health) for families when the services they require involves several professionals - Ensure program model is implemented in a cultural way to meet the needs of the clients - Develop and maintain a work plan for Jordan’s Principle in coordination with all staff - Meet with service providers and cultural helpers to ensure children’ needs are met - Be knowledgeable with Department of Indigenous Services Canada documentation related to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and Jordan’s Principle - Work collaboratively with the Jordan’s Principle Staff/other internal staff/ external agencies and organizations to ensure all financial claims related to Jordan’s Principle are processed and managed according to agency policy and procedures - Analyse and identify gaps related to children’s needs and services - Build case management capacity through the development of policies, procedures and protocols related to screening and assessment, service planning, monitoring and evaluation of service plans and staff training - Maintain a workplace environment that attracts, retains, and motivates staff to meet the cultural and holistic needs of clients. - Oversee the development and implementation of program-specific policies and procedures. Reviewing existing policies on a regular basis, ensuring policies remain relevant. - Support the team to utilize, maintain, and input client information into the MNFC Database. - Evaluate program delivery and staff performance - Prepare reports for Executive Director & Funders - Promote, support and maintain effective working relations with all Indigenous Communities - Work proactively to identify children with unmet needs to facilitate early intervention and timely access to services and resources - Attend professional development opportunities as requested - Adhere to all the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre Policies - Maintain a high level of confidentiality - May perform other related duties as assigned. **Qualifications**: - _College/ university degree Social Services/ Human Services and least 5 years of experience in case management, working in health, social or education sectors by providing community-based services_ - _Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered_ - _Must have exceptional interpersonal, leadership, team building and reporting skills_ - _Knowledge of First Nations Communities/ Culture and the Urban/ Rural Indigenous Community_ - _Must possess a current vulnerable sector check, child abuse registrar_ - _Knowledge and understanding of poverty related issues, trends and services_ - _Understanding of Jordan’s Principle’s Initiative_ - _Must have a valid driver's license_ - _Access to a reliable means of transportation (must own a working vehicle)_ - Provide a current driver abstract & proof of insurance - **Indigenous Ancestry is an asset, please self-identify** **Application Deadline: Open Until Filled** - **Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
