In the academic terms in which there is course assignment, faculty are required to maintain regularly scheduled office hours on campus or online to be available to meet with students.Further, in the academic terms in which there is course assignment, participation in associated department activities as required within ancillary duties, including but not limited to events and meetings within the University community, ECCE committee work, and ECCE program development.

**Required Qualifications & Experience**
**Educational Background**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sign Language and/or Deaf Studies required;
- Master’s degree in Sign Language Education required;
- Provincial Instructor Diploma (BC) or equivalent certification preferred, or a commitment to obtain within two (2) years.
- ASL Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) Level 4+.
**Pedagogical Expertise**:
- More than 5 years experience teaching and assessing student learning using criterion-referenced frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to design practical, experiential, and project-based learning activities aligned with course outcomes.
- Commitment to fostering critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary learning in classroom settings.
**Professional Competence and Experience**:
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional and leadership experience.
- Evidence of engagement with professional organizations or communities of practice in the discipline.
- Active participation in organizations within the Deaf Community.
- Strong communication, mentorship, and collaborative skills to foster positive relationships with students and colleagues.
