Family Services Worker

**Position Overview**:
The Family Services Program believes that children thrive in a nurturing family and supportive environment. Our goal is to empower and support families through collaboration while increasing their knowledge and understanding of available community supports.
The Family Services Worker is responsible for coordinating various supports for families, mentoring Child and Youth Support Workers (CYSW), and assisting families to connect with their community based on the interests and strengths of their child/youth.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To establish trusting relationships with children and families.
- To promote effective communication among CYSWs, the Family Services office team, and families.
- To provide services in alignment with Transitions core values.
- To coordinate supports to assigned families i.e. case management.
- To establish and maintain confidential, organized, and current case files for each child/youth.
- To work collaboratively with families, conducting reviews of their staffing and support needs, renewing consents, updating essential information, and maintaining regular contact.
- To assist family’s with accessing community resources.
- To collaborate with families and community partners in navigating the transition from children and youth services to adult services.
- To coordinate the matching of staff with families based on skills and compatibility.
- To contribute to the orientation process for newly hired Child and Youth Support Workers (CYSWs)
- To accompany Child and Youth Support Workers (CYSW) to the family’s home on their initial introductory shift and additional shifts if required.
- To mentor CYSWs in the community or within a family's home, as needed.
- To collaborate with Life Skills Coaches and the Supervisor in planning and coordinating community-based and inclusive Summer Day Camps.
- To submit internal job postings for Family Services to Human Resources.
- To monitor and report any findings to the Supervisor that may require attention, specifically concerning staffing, matching, or recruitment needs.
- To facilitate Medication Orientation for CYSWs, ensuring adherence to agency procedures regarding the medical needs of each child.
- To participate in the rotation of Occupational Health and Safety wellness checks for team members.
- To collaborate with community partners to increase opportunities for children and youth to be active participants within their communities.
- To be knowledgeable about the services and activities available to children and youth within St. Albert and Sturgeon County. To develop and maintain an inventory of these resources and make this available to all staff and families.
- To support the Supervisor in identifying staff development needs.
- To be cross-trained in approving all CYSWs timesheets and expense sheets, including reconciling errors, and submitting to payroll within established timeframe.
- To maintain a well-organized work site.
- To prepare and submit required statistical information monthly.
- To participate as a contributing team member.
- To provide exceptional service delivery in a timely and professional manner.
- To assist in monitoring program effectiveness and parent satisfaction.
- To assume other duties and responsibilities as required.
**Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies**:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Services or related field of study.
- Experience working directly with children and families, preferably children with disabilities and or children with complex medical needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive and driven with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and stay motivated in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to adapt to new or changing priorities and/or environments.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Creative problem solving skills.
- Motivated and reliable.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check.
- Valid Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $24.24-$31.90 per hour
Expected hours: 36.25 per week
Flexible Language Requirement:

- Monday to Friday
