Southeast Resource Development Council Corporation (SERDC) Health Services Jordan’s Principle program is seeking two (2) Respite Workers to provide support to Jordan’s Principle Case Managers, clients and their families. If you are a respite professional who is looking to support a dynamic organization, and can provide positive energy, smiles, dedication, and initiative to help our clients enjoy life we would like to hear from you. Support includes transportation, recreation, and community activities. The respite work may require providing support within the community setting or in the family’s home. The Respite Workers are required to perform duties performed by family caregivers in the day-to-day support of children and families. The Respite Workers will be matched with families according to their abilities, experience, and availability, and based on the needs of the families.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Develop interesting and stimulating activities that are client-focused.
- Is knowledgeable and experienced in communicating (all forms i.e. verbal and written) with families regarding the periods of respite coverage.
- Responsible to communicate in verbal and written forms - with client(s)/families, SERDC Jordan’s Principle Team and Health department staff, etc.
- Drive clients to and from activities and back to their homes in a safe and careful manner.
- Participate in activities alongside client(s) to help in developing skills.
- Serve as a positive role model for clients/families and SERDC staff.
- Perform administrative duties including completing communication books/logs, incident reports and maintaining appropriate lines of communication with SERDC management and staff. Develop a respite client log for daily activities.
- Maintain effective communications with Jordan’s Principle team Supervisor, coworkers and clients. Participate in assisting Case Managers duties where applicable
- Any other duties assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate.
- Have two (2) years of experience working with a variety of people who have the driving abilities to do sports, educational, spiritual and group-inclusive activities.
- Have a creative and confident approach to challenges, problem-solving and endless patience.
- A passion and positive attitude to work with children with special needs and make a difference for them and their families.
- Demonstrated knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultures and traditions.
- Demonstrated skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of, and capability to apply, Indigenous approaches in working with families and children.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A valid current CPR and First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Must have a valid Manitoba class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable insured passenger vehicle, this position requires travel within the City of Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
- Ability to work flexible work hours (i.e. variable times including days, evenings and weekends.).
