Live-in Caregiver

**Job Expectations for the services as a Live-In**

As an Independent Contractor Live-In Caregiver, you are to ensure the safety of your client and support their activities of daily living. A care plan customized to your clients’ needs will be created to provide you with guidance and support.

**You will remain in the home 24 hours a day, with an average of 10 working hours.**You are to assist your clients with personal hygiene, oversee medication administration, maintain a clean and tidy household, plan meals, purchase groceries and prepare nutritious meals based on the client's needs and preferences.

You are to engage with your clients in suitable physical and mental activities to maximize their health potential. Accompany clients to appointments and errands allowing for safe transportation and social interaction. You are a Live-in caregiver can drive your client with a suitable consent on file. You are to maintain a record of the client’s health status, alerting the office of any changes in clients’ health condition.

The environment must include a separate sleeping accommodation/sleeping area for the caregiver.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that the emotional, spiritual and physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent on an ongoing basis.
- Morning Duties may include assist with personal hygiene, skin care, mouth care and general routine as required.
- Assist the client with all meal preparation, planning with all meals and snacks throughout the day.
- Beware of medical history and any allergies
- Assist with household duties - examples are laundry, vacuum, bedding and keeping a clean, tidy environment.
- Provide companionship, create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interests and hobbies.
- Perform errands as needed (e.g., groceries) as well as accompanying the client to medical appointments as requested
- Remind clients to review daily range of motion exercises.
- Charting progress notes daily with any changes in the clients’ conditions, bowel routine, skin breakdowns and significant changes
- Notify case manager of any client and family concerns promptly.
- Make sure emergency sheet is up to date and DNR in place.
- Cell phones are to be used for emergency only and keeping them on vibrate or mute while working with the client. Client comes first

**Education**
Completion of formal, accredited caregiver training program and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience would be an asset, but not required. Strong knowledge of the principles of caregiving as well as well as customer service are essential. Training can be provided where needed.

**Other Skills and Abilities**
- First Aid, CPR, Personal Caregiver Certification or equivalent.
- Ability to pay close attention and remain attentive to client at all hours of worktime.
- Bilingual in English and Filipino/Tagalog or Nepali preferred

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $180.00 per day

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Every Weekend
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- Weekends only

**Experience**:

- PSW/ Elderly Caregiver / Nursing: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- fluent Filipino/Tagalog (preferred)
- fluent Nepali (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- PSW Certificate (preferred)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (within 5 years) (preferred)
- TB Test Results (within 12 months) (preferred)
- Driver's Licence with access to reliable vehicle (required)
- CPR Certification (preferred)
