**POSITION: Personal Support Worker**

**UNIT: Acute Medicine Unit**

**STATUS: Full Time**

**SALARY: $26.45 - $26.84**

The Acute Medical Unit encompasses AMU3, AMU4, and AMU5 and provides nursing care for patients with a wide variety of diagnosis including but not limited to: gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory problems (pneumonia, chronic bronchitis) and cardiovascular disease (stroke, chest pain and heart failure). Our multi-disciplinary healthcare team is dedicated to promoting the maximum possible independence and healthiest lifestyle for all patients in the unit throughout their hospital stay.

The PSW will be working at their full scope of practice and will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):

- Performing basic patient care functions
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living and other duties assigned.
- The PSW will be responsible for documenting on unit specific documentation forms
- Observing and reporting changes in patient conditions to appropriate team members
- Practicing infection control and safety measures in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.

**HOURS**:
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
- Preference will be given to those with at least one (1) year recent Acute Medical Care experience within the past two (2) years.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current Safe Management Training Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills and able to work through conflicts and differences in a respectful manner.
- Demonstrated excellence in the highest level of communication skills and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety.
- Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Cerner, etc.).
- Ability to meet the physical demands of essential duties of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
