**Overview of the Position**

The Assistant Buyer is responsible for providing support to Buyers in the management of category product lines with a focus on effective and beneficial relationships with Vendors.

You will support the category Buyer in product sourcing, marketing and maintenance while staying abreast of industry trends and opportunities. You will act as point of contact for Vendor and Retail store inquiries, while initiating effective resolutions to concerns.

**To be successful in this role, you will need to**:

- Assist the Buyer with product sourcing, marketing, vendor and SKU set-up
- Research and source new items and Vendors
- Assist the Buyer in Product Knowledge training sessions
- Assist the Buyer in evaluating product samples
- Review flyer and catalogue proofs
- Assists in special projects to implement new initiatives or make improvements to existing processes and assist with team building
- Have a 'figure it out' type of view when looking at potential products for the category. The ability to look at products and think of potential other uses will be helpful with purchasing decisions
- Some knowledge of Princess Auto's competition, and the ability to work with the buyer to make quick purchasing decisions
- Knowledge of the products and lines Princess Auto carries is recommended

***To be considered for the role you will need**:

- 1-2 years’ experience in a retail leadership or retail buying environment
- To be highly organized with strong analytical and planning skills
- To have excellent written and verbal communication skill
- The ability to work independently and under pressure while responding to changes quickly
- The ability to travel
