**About the Role**

As a Cylindrical GrinderLevel 1, you will be responsible for grinding or machining customer and WHC components to required specifications with optimal efficiency, ensuring high-quality output. This role requires a positive attitude and a desire to be a productive member of our team.

**Primary Accountabilities**
- Grind or machine customer and WHC components to the required specifications with optimal efficiency.
- Ensure high quality output from machining and grinding operations.

**Key Position Accountabilities**
- Utilize proper PPE.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and pre-set gauges.
- Measure and examine completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to process products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Machine or grind external or internal cylindrical and tapered surfaces.
- Determine the scope of jobs and number of parts needing machining or grinding.
- Determine machining tools or grinding wheels to be used.
- Mount and balance grinding wheels.
- Inspect machine tools for damage and grinding wheels for cracks.
- Use dressing devices on grinding stones.
- Confirm that finished workpiece meets the design specifications.
- Rough and finish flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces.
- Use proper guards on all machines.
- Observe machines during operation.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, grinding tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Utilize and operate magnets, centers, 4-jaw chucks, and lathes.
- Transfer pieces using lifts, cranes, and hoists.
- Maintain workspace, equipment, and tools and diagnose machine malfunctions to determine the need for adjustments or repair.
- Confer with supervisory and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Demonstrate competency with at least one grinding machine, lathe, or mill such that they can train backup personnel.

**Compensation & Benefits**
- **Hourly Rate**: Between **$31.00 to $34.00 CAD per hour**. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

**Work Details**
- **Shift**: Must be willing to work day shift, evening shift, overtime, and possible weekends.
- **Schedule**: Monday to Friday, weekends as needed.
- **Expected Hours**: 40 per week.
- **Location**: 9625 58 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2W3. Remote work is not required.
- **Flexible Language Requirement**: French not required.

**Required Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum **5 years of experience as a Machinist / 5 years of experience as a Cylindrical Grinder** or equivalent.
- Mechanical Technology education.
- Must be willing to work shift work (day/evening).

**Assets**
- Journeyman Machinist Certification.
- CNC Machining experience.
