Control Room Operator

**Summary**: Responsible for overseeing all Factory Talk screens and passing information on to applicable operators or maintenance. Communication hub for the facility. Recording data in required systems.
**Essential Duties / Responsibilities**:
Monitors all fry line and specialty line processes, settings and trends from the control room.
Must be able to translate an excellent overall understanding of the entire process and packaging areas into clear communication with various stakeholders including Production, Maintenance, QC and Warehouse personnel.
Makes changes and adjustments to process settings as required in conjunction with supervision and process operators.
Reacts to any alarms that may come up by taking the necessary corrective action and notifying all relevant employees.
Takes ownership over communicating and coordinating cut changes, downtime, etc.
Maintains all required documentation including downtime, trends, processing records/summaries, hourly SPC/OEE data, Hourly RTM data, OSI PI entries, SAP labour entry and PO creation.
Able to work in other areas of the plant during a cleanup shift.
Maintains good housekeeping in the area.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)
Knowledgeable in all aspects of production processes (both lines) from potato receiving through to palletizing.
Able to exercise good judgment in making decisions relative to the operation of a production line.
Must have superior communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and be able to maintain good working relationships with Supervision and coworkers as well as ability to work with mínimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.
Mechanically inclined and able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems.
Must be willing to work in a team-based atmosphere.
Familiarity with in process control testing and entering results into the designated McCain database.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must have proven history of safe work habits.
Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
Ability to work on a rotating shift basis.
Successful completion of a 90-day familiarization period is required.
Lean Manufacturing
- experience working with 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls and Standard Work.
Minimum Grade 12 education.
Required Length, Type of Experience & Licenses (if applicable)
Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
Proficient with FTView, SPC/OEE, OSI PI and SAP.
Physical Requirements
Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment
Physically capable of performing job duties
Hourly Rate
**Start Rate**: $ 31.20
**After 6 months**: $ 32.68
