We are currently seeking a **Director of Human Resources & Corporate Services** to lead and oversee the corporate and human resources functions of the Centre.

**About the role**

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director Human Resources & Corporate Services is accountable for the planning, development, and day-to-day management of the Centre’s human resources and corporate functions, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Robert Smart Centre to support the Centre’s continued growth and success.

As a key member of the Roberts/Smart Centre senior management team, you will also contribute to the strategic planning and overall direction of the Centre, ensuring operational frameworks are aligned with the Centre’s long-term goals.

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in operational leadership, human resources, facilities and asset management and organizational development alongside a solid understanding of change management and process improvement. A strong foundation in leadership, with responsibility for overseeing corporate operations, and the ability to direct and mentor staff across various departments, is essential to the success of this role.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- **Strategic Human Resources Initiatives & Leadership**:

- Possess knowledge of the relevant legislation, including but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act.
- Led, develop and oversee a comprehensive talent management strategy, including compensation, benefits, performance evaluations, and recruiting, retention and employee engagement initiatives.
- Oversee and direct all activities for human resources including recruitment, retention, engagement, labour relations, etc.
- Direct all negotiations with the local union; provide consultation regarding standard employment practices.
- Track and analyze industry trends, ensuring the Centre remains competitive in attracting talent compared to similar organizations.
- Oversee the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and effective experience for new employees.
- Collaborate with management to address employee concerns, promoting a positive, mission-aligned organizational culture.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by implementing training and development programs to enhance employee skills and competencies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of HR initiatives, recommending improvements based on performance metrics and employee feedback.

**2. Facilities & Asset Management**
- Establish and implement a comprehensive property management plan for all owned or rented physical plants, ensuring regular maintenance and timely identification of issues.
- Develop and maintain a security plan with proper monitoring systems to ensure a safe working or living environment for all centre properties.
- Coordinate the development of renovation and repair plans, ensuring they undergo appropriate consultation and receive necessary approvals.
- Supervise property maintenance operations and oversee all renovation and repair projects from start to finish.
- Implement long-term strategies for facility improvements, maintenance, and safety compliance, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and fostering a healing atmosphere in alignment with the Centre’s mental health mission.
- Oversee asset management processes, ensuring alignment with operational needs, clinical service delivery and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for facility services and capital projects, ensuring that all improvements and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner.
- Proactively manage risk by ensuring that the Centre’s physical infrastructure adheres to health and safety regulations, infection control protocols, and any other relevant healthcare compliance standards.
