To be successful as a head waiter/waitress, one must have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

A strong knowledge of food and beverage service is also essential, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Manage and train the waitstaff, and delegating tasks to ensure efficient service.
- Take orders and relay them to the kitchen, making note of any special requestes or dietary restrictions.
- Ensure theat guests receive their orders in a timely manner and that their dining experience meets their expectatiions.
- Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure that food is prepared and served properly
- Maintain a clean and organised dining area, including resetting tables and preparing for the next seating.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accurancy and security.
- Train and mentor new waitstaff, provinding guidance on proper service techniques and etiquette.
- Work with the restaurant management team to develop and implement new polices and procedures for dining room service and banquet.
- Coordinate event logistics with banquet coordinator.

- Be sensitive to the needs of customers.
- Take an active interest in customers' personal and business affairs.
- Listen carefully to patrons' desires and respond efficiently and quickly.
- Respond appropriately to all customer requests.
