**Rehabilitation Consultant**

**Job Description**:

- Provides appropriate information and serves as a resource consultant to the disability analysts and management.
- Observes the conditions relevant to member vocational potential to evaluate members’ individual situations.
- Gathers information and prepares various reports and file documentation, including Return to Work agreements. This includes communicating with members, attending physicians, specialists, employers and affiliate representatives to ensure an accurate understanding of members’ vocational and medical needs.
- Recommends appropriate services for members, such as psychotherapy and physiotherapy. This includes defining the nature and policy limitations for these services, clearly outlining the responsibilities of the service provider, member and insurance carrier, and communicating information and professional knowledge, as required.
- Makes recommendations to the disability analysts, which includes preparing reports that explain results and findings and that provide references for cost-effect and timely return-to-work plans. Completes cost-benefit analysis where appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of career development resources to coordinate services and assist members in identifying alternate employment when appropriate.
- Maintains relationships and establishes trust with members and all other key stakeholders. This includes exploring existing problems and planning and implementing common solutions and goals.
- Solicits assistance from medical professionals as required. This includes working towards a negotiated rehabilitation and Return-To-Work plan, following up with other insurers or service providers as appropriate, and preparing and presenting policyholder reports, as required.
- Prepares and submits reports, as requested, to keep management and consulting and insurance representatives informed.
- Completes regular database back-ups to secure information and keeps information confidential to protect operations.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of four to six years’ experience in a related field.
- R.R.P. and C.C.R.C. or the ability to obtain these designations.
- A valid driver’s licence is required.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial laws pertinent to rehabilitation and employment.
- Knowledge of behavioral traits, assessment procedures and tools, developmental and adjustment techniques, and counselling.
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, including project management skills.
