Youth and Seniors Program Facilitator

**Job Summary**
The Program Facilitator plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and management of programs aimed at enhancing community engagement and support. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for public health and social work. The Program Facilitator will oversee various initiatives, manage volunteers, and ensure effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
**Main Responsibilities**:
**Youth Programming (ages 13-24)**
- Develop, and deliver quality programming that fosters leadership, belonging, and life skills for youth.
- Ensure youth input in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate delivery of social, academic, recreational, and capacity-building programs within identified neighbourhoods.
- Facilitate workshops and group programs, including peer mentorship and youth-led initiatives.
- Provide resource support to youth to sustain wellness.
- Liaise with schools, shelters, and organizations serving youth.
- Conduct outreach and promotion to ensure youth engagement.
- Supervise and train youth volunteers, peer mentors, and placement students.
- Utilize behavioural management and conflict resolution techniques as required.
**Seniors & Active Living Programming (ages 55+)**
- Develop and deliver diverse social, recreational, fitness, and lifelong learning programs for older adults.
- Support seniors’ input in program planning and evaluation to ensure responsiveness to their needs.
- Promote wellness, independence, and social inclusion through activities that reduce isolation and encourage active living.
- Coordinate workshops, wellness classes, and social events for seniors.
- Liaise with seniors’ residences, health care providers, and community organizations serving older adults.
- Provide informal support and referrals to seniors for services, benefits, and entitlements.
- Recruit, train, and supervise seniors’ program volunteers.
- Conduct outreach to increase awareness and participation in seniors’ programs.
**Shared/General Responsibilities**
- Ensure safety and well-being of all program participants.
- Maintain attendance, program statistics, and prepare timely reports.
- Assist with grant writing and prepare funder reports.
- Develop partnerships and represent BBNC in networks and coalitions related to youth and seniors’ services.
- Recommend program changes and contribute to policy development.
- Coordinate with other organizations to enhance accessibility of services.
- Organize regular meetings with staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Support intergenerational initiatives that bring youth and seniors together for mutual learning and community building.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Required Skills and Experience**
- Post-secondary education in social services, recreation, community development, or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in planning, delivery, and evaluation of innovative community-based programs for youth and/or seniors.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations (cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, developmental) in a community-based setting.
- Proven experience in engagement with marginalized youth and/or isolated seniors.
- Knowledge of services and current/emerging issues affecting youth and seniors.
- 2-3 years’ experience with staff, volunteers, or students.
- Strong facilitation and group leadership skills.
- Experience in program evaluation using an outcomes measurement framework.
- Grant writing and report preparation skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and community partners.
- Computer proficiency: MS Windows, Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and Internet research.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Second language an asset
- Knowledge of the Scarborough Bluffs and Scarborough Southwest community an asset.
- Innovative, enthusiastic, team player who is committed to community development principles.
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
