**CUPE** - Job Title:_ Personal Support Worker - Status:_ Regular Part Time - Department:_ Continuing Care - Bowmanville - Program:_ Healthy Aging 12 Hour Shifts, Days/Nights/Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change) - Location:_ Lakeridge Health Bowmanville - Wage Schedule:_ $29.910 - $31.240 per hour - Posting Reference:_ 2500000143 This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 16 January 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 21 January 2025. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is an integral member of the healthcare team. Working under the supervision of the Nurse, Unit Coordinator and Manager with responsibilities that focus on the provision of direct and indirect personal care involving a variety of activities of daily living while supporting the functions of all team members, offer diversion, de-escalation and support of the medically stable patient. The PSW will also collaborate with other health disciplines." QUALIFICATIONS: - Successful completion of a 1 year Personal Support Worker program from an accredited Community College or educational institution accredited with the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) is required; - Successful completion of a U-First/PIECES Certificate Program, an asset; - Successful completion of Gentle Persuasion Program, an asset; - Current Basic Life Support required; - Proven critical thinking, observation and problem solving skills; - Demonstrated related healthcare and inventory experience; - Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs, preferably Meditech; - Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position; - Ability to work with supervision by a regulated health care provider; - Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 12 months; - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a Patient and family centred environment; - Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; - Must have a satisfactory performance record; - Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
