Lead Hand

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Operating sawmill equipment as required, including regular saw/station maintenance as required.
- Cross trained on all functions within the sawmill to allow for back up
- Training and working collaboratively with other employees
- Keeping a clean and safe workspace; mindset & eye for safety
- Performing all tasks in accordance with established safe work practices and standard operating procedures
- Complete daily reporting with attention to detail & accuracy
- Lumber grader back up
- Assisting Sawmill Manager when required
- Able to work Independently & Self motivated
- Ability to see bigger picture and take initiative where needed
- Confidence to step out of your comfort zone & willingness to learn and grow
- Quality Control for logs and lumber
- Monthly inventory

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Strong communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Solid ability to embrace hands on solutions to complex challenges-Positive attitude, strong work ethic & interpersonal skills
- Experience with operating sawmill equipment, particularly circular resaws
- Experience Working with circular saws, hardwood lumber grades
- Certification as a qualified hardwood lumber grader is an asset
- Previous experience in a sawmill environment would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a physical product type environment
- Ability to embrace hands on solutions to complex challenges
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Flexibility to work overtime as required.

**COMPENSATION, BENEFITS**:

- Competitive starting wage based on qualifications and experience
- Full time, to cover leave, expectations to transition to permanent
- 4 x 10hr shifts Monday - Thursday
- 4% vacation pay

Contract length: 12 months
