YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.

The Dietary Cook is responsible for the preparation of dietary meals throughout the summer. They will be responsible for knowing and understanding the dietary restrictions of our camp community including both staff and campers. They will plan and prepare meals that meet the needs of any dietary restrictions at camp and at times assist the Out-Tripping Food Service Coordinator with managing dietary restrictions on trip when staff are packing out trips. The Dietary Cook will also help prep cooks gain knowledge and confidence in cooking dietary meals in their absence. They will also need to help with meal service, with designated oversite of the salad bar and responsibility for maintaining a clean and healthy kitchen in accordance with the Ministry of Health.

**In this role, you will**:

- Prepare and serve camp meals with the kitchen team in a fun and efficient way
- Maintain a high level of food safety practices; role modeling and ensuring all team members are following food safety practices, and camp policies and procedures
- Support with maintaining a clean kitchen; including washing dishes as required
- Continuously builds relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Understand and work with a variety of participant dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac, halal, dairy allergies, etc
- Responsible for food substitutions for guests with dietary restrictions and cultural needs; ensure awareness of guests’ food allergies and restrictions and provision of substitute food
- Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; showing up on time, and actively participating contributing to the development of all staff members
- Ensure Health & Safety procedure, including outbreak management guidelines, are being followed and maintained; and shares with the staff team the duty of ensuring it is clean, organized and safe to ensure the health & safety of all campers, staff and volunteers
- Act as a positive role model for all participants and fellow staff through embodying the values of the YMCA, Pine Crest’s guiding principles, YMCA policies and procedure, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines
- Continuously builds relationships with members, staff, volunteers and community partners
- Perform other duties as assigned

**You bring**:

- Experience working in a kitchen/hospitality environment
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C, and Food Handler Certificate required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) & experience working with food allergies and dietary restrictions an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be authorized to work full time hours (37.5 hours per week)
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change
- Demonstrated organizational skills and detailed oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and independently to achieve optimal collective results
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff
- Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner
