Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Vice President of Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer is currently seeking a Director of Hospital Services. The purpose of the position is to drive the planning, management and execution of the Hospital Services' functions that include food services, facilities maintenance and project delivery, security and emergency services, transportation, and housekeeping strategies and related initiatives; guide and assess performance and customer service and identify risks and mitigation strategies. The role leads and coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of related departmental activities and functions. The Director of Hospital Services regularly provides strategic advice to the hospital's CFO and senior leadership team.
Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Develop, lead and execute Hospital Services departmental management strategies that drive performance and health; advance initiatives that facilitate innovation, efficiency and sustainable performance in a complex cross-functional environment. Oversight of annual $30.3M operating and $2.0M capital budgets, 168 FTEs, and 4 managers.
- Lead change initiatives to meet organizational goals at the portfolio level based on the overall hospital Strategic Plan and objectives and consistent with other strategic plans; develop and monitor organizational and departmental performance review processes and indicators that support outcome-based, effective and efficient services to manage hospital resources.
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of annual departmental budgets consistent with the goals and objectives of the hospital strategic and operational plans and priorities.
- Provide leadership and advice to departmental and other hospital Directors/Managers and department/program teams ensuring that the results of the evaluation are used for further development and maintenance of performance; develop and maintain strong customer service standards and relations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support legislative and professional requirements, including reporting and compliance; ensure alignment with provincial, LHIN directions, accreditation, and corporate policies and practices.
- Provide direction, leadership and advice to team members to ensure that individual skills, knowledge/competencies are fully utilized to meet departmental goals and service needs; evaluate team performance and providing appropriate resources and interventions for team building and conflict resolution; developing and maintaining positive labour relations.
**REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional designation from a recognized related association preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital support functions
- Extensive knowledge and experience of hospital support services and principles, business management theories, and standard policies and procedures as they relate to best practice performance measurement and risk management strategies
- Proven knowledge of contract management and related concepts to support integrity of the hospital’s resources and mitigate risk
- Extensive knowledge of management, methods and materials, related provincial legislation and regulations (e.g. Energy Act, Building Code, Fire Code, PSISA, Operating Engineers Act, PIDAC, Food Safety), Excellent Care for All Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act. Strong operational knowledge of Collective Agreements, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other guidelines and directives relating to area of responsibility
