**Marketing Research Intern (3-Month Contract)**

**Gain real-world business experience and work with a fun, close-knit team**

Reliance Foundry’s mission is making places people want to be, out in the world through our products (bollards, site furnishings, hardscape, Digital and more), and also in our workplace.

Our marketing team is small but mighty—we’re a close-knit group of six who are passionate about our craft. In a large company, we’d be siloed into marketing, communications, website, and ecommerce departments, but at Reliance, we have our hands in everything. It’s a fantastic and fun learning environment, where we prioritize collaboration and growth, and every wild idea is genuinely considered.

Though entry-level, the marketing intern is a key role in our company. You’ll help us set the direction for our marketing strategies and new product launches for both Reliance’s main business selling metal site furnishings, and our digital division, Citysage.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Learn the ins and outs of our products: you'll be introduced to our products in our warehouse and through our website, and learn what new products are in the pipeline. You’ll investigate the industry marketplace: how do our prices compare to our competitors’? What types or styles of products could we or should we add to our lineup?
- You’ll conduct customer research, interviewing colleagues to research to whom we’re selling: who they are, what they’re looking for, and how we can (and already do) serve them. You’ll then use a variety of business tools and social media analytics to test our theories Are the people we think we’re selling to *really* the people we're selling to? What do they care about? What are their pain points?
- Get your spy hat on: who are our competitors? Again, you’ll compare who we think are our main competitors to those you may come across in research. Once you know who they are, you’ll deep dive into what they’re doing in their marketing efforts. Is there anything they’re doing that we’re not (and should be)?
- You’ll explore other ways to market to our customers in new, creative ways, and you’ll pitch that to the rest of the marketing team and management. Some of these will be research requests from management, and some may be self-driven

**What you’ll get**:
This internship will give you experience with how real-world B2B marketing works, and have both research and presentations/reports to add to your portfolio. You’ll have gained valuable insight into various aspects of digital and traditional marketing, which will hopefully inform where you might be interested to take your career.

**Reporting structure**:
You’ll be part of the marketing team, which includes a marketing manager, two web developers, a graphic designer, a marketing strategist, and a content writer. We collaborate on many projects, and have regular check in meetings where we touch base on priorities, present to each other to gain feedback and spark new ideas, and celebrate our weekly wins.

You’ll report to the marketing manager, but will work closely with both your manager as well as the director of the digital division to learn about the brand, products, and current customers.

**The fine print**:

- Salary range: $18-22/hour
- This is currently a hybrid role (minimum 2 days per week in office, up to 3 days per week at home), but may change to a full-time in-office role if required by the company
- The internship is for a 3-month contract, with the potential to extend the contract and/or eventually convert to a full-time permanent position
