They implement established technologies and find emerging solutions for all business lines (Buildings, Energy & Resources, Environmental Services, Infrastructure, and Water), bridging existing knowledge domains and facilitating the integration of powerful tools and methods. The team’s goals are to digitalize our organization, support Stantec’s digital transformation, and to increase the capacity of our designers, engineers, and scientists, providing higher-quality results and solutions to our clients.
**Your Opportunity**
The Innovation Office’s Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI) team has an opportunity for a Business Intelligence Specialist. This individual contributor position will be a member of the Data and Analytics Program Group, which leads the firm in Business Intelligence and data services by providing architectural guidance, technological vision, and solution development. Specifically, this position will use advanced analytics, reporting, and data visualization to give our business and our products a competitive advantage. It includes understanding and managing the data and how it interconnects as well as architecting data for self-serve BI and BA opportunities. This position requires a person who is business savvy, experienced in data analysis, data visualization, and enjoys framing a problem, shaping & creating solutions, and helping to champion implementation. As a member of the Digital Technology & Innovation team, the Data and Analytics group also engages in research & development and provides guidance and oversight as a center of excellence for the business. This group also engages in new product research and testing and the incubation of data analytics ideas.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Data Analytics Leader, your key responsibilities will include:
- Design, build and deploy powerful BI solutions as per business requirements.
- Connect to data sources, import data, and transform data for Business Intelligence.
- Customize data models to deliver new product features and support user experience through performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.
- Generate insights & present effective data-driven business recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Help business units make informed decisions and understand the “what” and “why” via data analysis and visual storytelling.
- Work with data scientists, data engineers and project teams to assist with data related issues and support their data needs.
- Implement BI leading practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Help identify the business data needed to produce the most useful insights and future analytics.
- Present periodic TechTalk/Spotlight (internal company) webinars throughout the year on the topic of data analysis and business intelligence, and present to external audiences as needed.

- Help build and deliver interactive dashboards with a robust design aesthetic.
- Professional experience in SQL, R, Python, or related tools for large-scale analysis.
- Experienced in analyzing extremely complex, multi-dimensional data sets with a variety of tools.
- Experience dealing with both structured & unstructured datasets and drawing the insights from the data.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI development, publishing, and scheduling reports.
- Proficiency in DAX queries.
- Basic Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Git Hub repository, and other DevOps tools.
- Experience using big data databases with Cloud experience preferred.
**Education and Experience**
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, IT, mathematics, statistics, or another relevant area of study.
