**Job Description**: **Water/Wastewater Operator II - 2 Positions** **Public Works - Water & Wastewater** **Regular Full-Time & Contract Full-Time; Duration: 12 Months** CUPE LOCAL 966- Public Works Under general supervision, performs manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction, maintenance or operational functions **Responsibilities**: - Maintains, operates and inspects water distribution and wastewater collection system assets - Performs water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions - Ensures all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards, legislation and regulations - Performs hand excavation, backfilling, restoration works, concrete work and pipe laying - Cleans sewer mains, laterals and manholes of debris and sediment - Maintains a neat appearance and performs duties in a way which conveys a "positive image' of the Region **Qualifications**: - Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent - Minimum one (1) year of job related experience - Minimum acceptable MOE certification is Water Distribution Class 1 and Wastewater Collection Operator-In-Training (OIT) certificates with a preference for progressive advancement of certification to the subsystem class level - Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment - Ability to read, write, speak and understand English - Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports - Must have a working knowledge of computers - Must have a working knowledge of applicable regulation as it applies to compliance - Must successfully complete mandatory renewal training - Requirement to obtain Meter Installers Certificate - Physically able to perform requirements of the job - Possess a Class “GZ” license in good standing with preference for “DZ” - Must be willing and available to work independently on shifts - Testing may be required **_ Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are currently in the bargaining unit_** **Locations**:12078 Innis Lake Rd, Caledon, ON **Hours**:40 hours per week **Interview**: Our recruitment process will be completed with video conference technology. **As part of the Region’s ongoing commitment to health and safety, there are enhanced Covid-19 specific safety protocols and/or personal protective equipment requirements (e.g. masks, eye protection, etc.) in place to help protect health and safety.
