The Health and Safety Specialist will contribute to the success of our company’s vision by being a champion for workplace health, safety and the environment, supporting the continued growth and effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS).

**Job Summary**

The Health and Safety Specialist plays an important role in establishing a healthy, safe and secure workplace by administrating the HSE program as a component of the fully integrated Safety Management System. The position is a key component of the SMS department ensuring OSH, AOSH and security expectations are achieved and effective, striving for continuous improvement and promoting safety as a core value throughout the entire organization.

**Reporting Structure**

The Health and Safety Specialist reports to the Director, SMS working collaboratively with the SMS Coordinator to implement the defined Safety Management System.

**Accountable For**
- Administrating the organization’s Health, Safety and Environmental Program ensuring compliance with all applicable regulation
- Ensuring the completion of inspections including the identification of deficiencies and recommendations for improvement
- Conduct new hire and contractor safety orientations
- Researching, developing, implementing and maintaining training including oversight of training records as applicable
- Completing and/or assisting in investigations or findings
- Administrating meetings including document preparation and review
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining work procedures
- Maintaining compliance with client health and safety portals such as ISN World and Avetta
- Assisting in the maintenance, revision and publication of company manuals and supporting documents
- Administrating the company security program
- Actively supporting the company Safety Management System by participating in the program and acting appropriately for their role as defined within the SMS Manual
- All other duties as assigned

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Occupational, Health and Safety, preferably with experience in a federally regulated industry
- Previous experience performing incident or accident investigations
- Previous experience conducting audits or inspections
- Experience developing, implementing and conducting training and education programs
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office and other similar programs
- Ability to hold and maintain a valid Transport Canada Security clearance
- Hold a valid passport
- Ability to travel as required
- Experience in the aviation industry considered an asset

Position Type: Full Time, 40 hour work week

Schedule: Monday - Friday; Weekends as required

Remuneration: Intermediate Level Band A

Travel: As required

**Salary**: From $40,000.00 per year
