**Job Title: Social Media Coordinator, Hospitality Services**
**General Description**
The Social Media Coordinator for Hospitality Services at McMaster University is an enthusiastic and proactive individual responsible for creating and managing dynamic social media content that resonates with the student population. This role involves developing, scheduling, and executing promotional campaigns across all food service units on campus. The incumbent will work closely with unit managers and the Senior Management Team to ensure that marketing events are successfully implemented through social media campaigns and align with the university’s brand. As a public-facing role, the Coordinator will frequently interact with students, participate in campus events, and capture content across various locations on campus. Previous marketing experience targeting students or Gen Z is an asset.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Social Media Management**:
- Create, schedule, and post engaging content (photos, videos, blogs, etc.) on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Capture real-time content across various campus locations, highlighting daily activities, special events, and student engagement.
- Design and manage social media ads tailored to the student audience to increase brand awareness and drive engagement.
- Monitor and compile analytics for social media platforms, providing insights and recommendations to optimize content and strategy.
**Event Promotion**:[BL1]
- Develop and execute social media campaigns and content for in-unit promotions and campus-wide events that resonate with the student body.
- Work closely with the Senior Management Team and unit managers to ensure promotional events are effectively planned and implemented.
- Actively participate in and represent Hospitality Services at student-focused events, leveraging these opportunities to create and share live content on social media platforms.
- Design and produce digital promotional materials, including social media graphics, event announcements, and other online content aimed at increasing student engagement and awareness.
**Student Engagement**:
- Act as a public face of Hospitality Services, engaging with students through social media and in-person interactions.
- Foster positive relationships with the student community, gathering feedback and insights to improve marketing efforts.
- Conduct consumer-facing activities designed to generate excitement and increase participation in promotions.
**Other Responsibilities**:
- Maintain a professional and approachable image at all times.
- Ensure all promotional and marketing materials are accurate and properly represent the Hospitality Services brand.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Senior Management Team.
**Supervision**
- This position does not supervise any staff.
**Qualifications**
**Education**:
- Diploma/Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related field.
**Skills & Experience**:
- Proven experience in social media management, with a strong understanding of platforms popular with Gen Z (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat).
- Demonstrated experience in the use of creative design software for the purposes of content development.
- Strong graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.).
- Demonstrated strategic use of web analytic data to advance user engagement.
- Photography and videography skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-confident, cheerful, and energetic personality, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the hospitality or food service industry is an asset.
**Additional Information**
- Must be comfortable working in a public-facing role with significant student interaction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required for events.
- Must be able to move around campus frequently, including walking and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
