Irrigation Technician

**Starting Wage $22 Depending on Experience**

**Full Time and Part Time Hours Available**

**Role Description**

You will assist with installing irrigation systems under the direction of a Senior Technician. You will begin a comprehensive training plan to learn all aspects of installing irrigation systems. As you progress you will begin to independently make repairs and perform servicing duties.

Ultra Irrigation is a growing business in the Victoria and Westshore Communities. We install, maintain and service high quality Irrigation Systems with the goal of keeping landscapes green whilst conserving water and optimising efficiency.

**Responsibilities**
- Assisting with the installation of new systems or upgrades to existing systems.
- Digging and preparing trenches.
- Laying pipe and connecting components to codes and standards.
- Backfilling trenches and clean-up with specific attention to detail.
- Recognising different components and selecting suitable solutions.
- Note taking and organisation of tools and materials.
- Conducting health and safety practises.

**Experience and Certification**
- No Irrigation experience necessary. Any experience in plumbing, drainage, horticulture, agriculture, landscaping, construction or anything related to engineering is considered an asset.
- Any education or certifications are considered assets.
- Valid BC Drivers Licence. Required to drive to job sites in the Greater Victoria area.
- Ability to handle tools and powered machinery.

**Training and Further Development of Role**

A structured training plan will be implemented based on current experience with the target of completing Level One certification, (CIT-Certified Irrigation Technician). Further training will be given with the aim of completing CIT Level Two. Any other courses you wish to attend to further develop your knowledge will be negotiated. Upon approval, courses may be paid for and pay rises will be rewarded for your development.

**Conditions and Compensation**
- Irrigation labour is demanding work. You must be physically fit and strong enough to dig trenches for up to 6 hours in a day.
- At times you may be asked to grind through adverse weather conditions.
- 8 Hours a day, 5 days a week. (Unless part time hours are negotiated) During hot summer days hours may be reduced. 4 day weeks can be negotiated.
- 4% Vacation Pay and bonuses based on performance.
- No health benefits package available at this time.
