Reporting to the Project Director, the design manager will use their technical expertise to ensure designs are produced on time with high quality. You will work closely with senior management to motivate and encourage internal and external design teams.

This position is based in Ottawa with frequent visits to Chalk River as required.

Ottawa

Responsibility:

- Coordinate design and engineering activities to meet scope, budget, schedule and quality requirements.
- Implement the Project Design Plan.
- Interface with the CNL Design Authority during the engineering phase.
- Ensure design/engineering compliance with approved design, regulatory requirements, codes, standards and good practices.
- Provide general direction for establishing technical, safety and quality standards for design deliverables.
- Review and monitor key technical documentation and deliverables for compliance with applicable codes and standards, including QA standards.

Qualification:

- Professional Engineer of Ontario with accreditation from an acceptable academic institution.
- Proven skills in managing large design teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of nuclear designs and coordinating multi-discipline teams.
- Proven experience in managing nuclear engineering projects.
Quality assurance procedures knowledge meeting functional project goals.
- Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and nuclear codes and standards.
- Experience with maintaining budget and cost control for managing engineering teams.
- Demonstrated multi-partner project delivery applied experience and knowledge.
- 10 years design leadership experience.
