Synergy Protection Group is looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team at our North York office.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Time Approvals:
- Review and approve employee punch ins/outs on a daily basis.
- Ensure that time entries are accurate, complete and comply with company policies
- Collaborate with department managers or supervisors to resolve any discrepancies or missing information
- Obtain necessary approvals for time entries before processing payroll.
Biweekly payroll processing:
- prepare and process biweekly payroll accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to established deadlines
- Verify and calculate employee wages, salaries and deductions based on time records and company policies.
- Review payroll reports for accuracy and make necessary adjustments
Payroll adjustments:
- Handle payroll adjustments such as salary changes, promotions, terminations, leave of absences and new hires
- Process employee status changes, tax withholdings and benefit deductions.
- Update employee payroll records and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Address and resolve employee inquiries or concerns related to payroll discrepancies
- Collaborate with HR department and managers to ensure accurate processing of payroll adjustments
Record Maintenance and reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up to date payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions and tax withholdings.
- Generate payroll related reports as directed by the Director of Finance
- Maintain knowledge of current payroll regulations to ensure compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, human resources or related field is preferred
- Proven experience as a payroll specialist or in a similar payroll processing role.
- Proficiency in Quick books (desktop and online version)
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet software e.g. microsoft excel for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
