- LinkedInThe Project Manager is a key role that oversees all industrial automation projects at JAE Automation. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position requires strong project management skills and expert level knowledge of designing industrial automation systems to effectively plan, coordinate, manage and deliver complex projects for our customers. Working independently on assigned projects, this position will work closely with Team Leads and Design Managers to provide design oversight, resource scheduling, project planning and writing technical reports. The Project Manager will also work closely with the Senior Project Manager and President in project estimating, writing proposals, providing technical specifications to sales efforts, performing project management staff evaluations, and mentoring technical staff. This role requires deep technical skills in automation design, strong interpersonal skills in customer service and well-developed project management skills to oversee the quality of work for controls, mechanical, process and IT projects.

This position is in Kemptville, ON south of Ottawa. Relocation assistance is available.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:
The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:

- Prepare estimates and proposals, working with the Senior Project Manager and/or President and other staff members as needed
- Provide technical support to the President/Business Development Manager for sales efforts
- Establish project schedules for new projects in Tenrox
- Resource scheduling and planning with Team Leads to ensure staff is being utilized and projects are meeting milestones
- Communicate weekly with Senior Project Manager to review resource planning, project scheduling, project financials, forecasting projects and providing technical support for sales requirements
- Establish meetings with customers to capture feedback and requests as well as to provide project updates that include budget and scope reviews
- Provide supervision to staff and contractors for onsite installation to ensure safety and project goals are being met
- Review and approve project requisitions
- Review project documents for approval prior to client approval
- Oversee the review of documentation, instructions, drawings, or specifications to communicate design intent
- Oversee the setup of specialized and standard equipment to test, diagnose and analyze the performance of components, assemblies, and systems
- Keep abreast of new technologies, research new processes and methodologies and complete technical training as required
- Oversee the research and development for approved projects and sales requirements
- Provides support and mentoring to technical staff, oversees the quality of their project work, provides feedback, and contributes to staff evaluations
- Customer interfacing to resolve issues quickly and provide on-going dialogue and clear communication
- Ensures that project deadlines are completed on time and on budget
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures as per the Employee Manual

**Required Skills and Abilities**:

- College diploma, University degree and/or 15+ years of relevant work experience in project management, industrial automation systems and robotics
- Expert in industrial automation systems design
- Expert level problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Expert level skills with all MS Office products
- Strong abilities with SOLIDWORKS and AUTOCAD
- Independently writing proposals, estimates, and technical documentation
- Mentoring abilities to foster development of skills in staff
- Expert level project management skills to oversee the quality of work produced by the team of mechanical designers and controls systems integrators
- PMP designation (an asset)

**Additional Information**:

- A valid Driver’s License and Canadian Passport, B1/B2 or ESTA visa to enter the USA is required
- English language skills are essential
