Program Manager, Adult Mental Health Affirmative Business

The Program Manager - Affirmative Business leads and oversees the development and growth of Voices
Opportunities and Choices Employment Club (VOCEC), a mature non-profit corporation established to create
employment opportunities and enable recovery, for those diagnosed with severe mental illnesses. Working
collaboratively with VOCEC’s Board of Directors, the Program Manager - Affirmative Business will ensure that
the non-profit’s finances, operations, marketing, human resources, and programmatic strategies are developed
and effectively implemented to meet VOCEC’s goals. The Program Manager will ensure business plans are
developed and regularly reviewed, engage in sales, networking, business development, and sourcing activities to
increase and maintain supportive employment opportunities for people living with mental illness and to ensure
business sustainability and expansion.
**Role Responsibilities**
- Collaborates with the Funder and the Board of Directors to refine and implement the strategic plan
while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned with VOCEC’s core mission to create
- meaningful, recovery based, and supportive employment opportunities for people living with mental
- illness
- Develops efficient processes that minimize costs while maximizing employment opportunities for VOCEC
staff
- Sources and researches relationships that should be developed and manage effective partnerships with
both existing and new key corporate partners, Non-Governmental Organizations government, media
- and funders
- Oversees the financial status of VOCEC including developing long and short-range financial plans,
monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place; sets financial priorities
- accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the program
and staff
- Guides the professional development of Affirmative Business staff including developing and
implementing individualized orientation and learning plans and ensuring effective learning
- conversations with staff members as per policy
- Initiates recruitment of new staff for the Affirmative Business team, working with Human Resources to
coordinate update job descriptions, recruitment, interviewing, hiring and orientation of new staff, as
- needed
- Manages performance of direct reports including, ongoing coaching, mentoring, counseling and/or
disciplinary action, involving other relevant stakeholders as appropriate (e.g. Human Resources, Quality
& Risk Management)
- In consultation with the Board of Directors, formulates and executes comprehensive marketing,
branding and business development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization
- and enhance revenue from foundations, government agencies, and corporations
**Required Qualifications and Experience**:
- Degree in Business Administration; Masters’ preferred
- Three years of related experience in managing business operations including sales, business
development marketing, job development, accounting, allocation of resources, development of business
plans and feasibility studies and human resources
- Three years of experience developing and maintaining positive public relations with community groups
and/or agencies
- Three years of experience in managing business operations, working with volunteer board of directors,
understanding of board governance and processes
- Demonstrated experience in the planning, development, and administration of policies, procedures and
programs in the areas of human resources, financial controls, budgeting, health and safety, quality
- assurance, purchasing or board governance.
