Policy and Strategic Planning Consultant

**Primary Function**
The Policy and Strategic Planning Consultant, reporting to the Chief People and Strategy Officer, will undertake assignments involving the preparation and review of planning and policy studies, support the strategic plan implementation with staff, research, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and the preparation of reports to the Board, including the following responsibilities:
**Major Responsibilities**
- **_Research and drafts policy planning reports and information and make recommendations for the Board._**:

- **_Provides research support to operations staff undertaking reviews to develop planning studies and concept designs._**:

- **_Support staff with assessing, formulating, follow-up, reporting and implementing strategic planning initiatives._**:

- **_Identifies emerging policy issues, assesses the required resources, and develops strategies to address them._**:

- **_Research current and projected needs for strategic initiatives and, along with staff, make recommendations for implementing strategies._**:

- **_Develops and implements project and work plans for strategic initiatives, balances and delivers on a diverse and challenging work program and meets deadlines._**:

- **_Develops and maintains databases, including planning initiatives information, relational databases, and associated tools to collect, store, model, analyze, and convey information as thematic analyses and reports._**:

- **_Coordinates and maintains current knowledge of all planning information, landscape concept designs and associated projects and studies._**:

- **_Works independently and as a team member and leads strategic planning teams, including assisting with the day-to-day coordination of staff and consultants._**:

- **_Responds to information requests from Board members, operational staff, tenants, City staff, consultants, and the public in a professional and timely manner._**:

- **_Represents Exhibition Place by making presentations to the general public, Board meetings, staff meetings, stakeholders, and local and senior government agencies._**:

- **_Advises the Senior Management Team on existing and emerging strategic planning and policy matters and provides leadership, analysis, and advice._**

Required Qualifications*
- Post-secondary education in planning, or public policy, or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, including the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of planning information and key results.
- Considerable experience delivering research projects in support of policy planning and strategic planning functions with mínimal direction.
- Considerable experience in assignments demanding critical judgment, analytical thinking and the balancing of staff and stakeholder interests.
- Considerable experience working with operational staff in leading project teams.
- Considerable experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Knowledge and practical experience using appropriate research methods and ability to understand, interpret and explain complex data.
- Demonstrated ability to work within and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain solid internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as an individual and in team settings.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new computer skills and commitment to continuous improvement.

**Salary**: $72,030.00-$90,839.00 per year
