**Description**:

**Role**:
The successful Specialist I- Operations must support customer tasks via ticket requests and perform external/internal equipment installations. The Specialist I - Operations will monitor facility systems for critical alarms and perform facility/security walkthroughs. Additionally, they will work with Service Management Executives for sales and customer audits.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with technology installation to include securing of cabinets, racking of equipment, and cabling of devices.
- Assist with installation of Windows-based operating systems and device configuration.
- Provide on-site customer service to clients while working within the data centre.
- Understand and follow defined standard operating procedures.
- Respond to and update tickets in accordance with department procedures.
- Issue problem, change, and request tickets when necessary for both Sungard AS’ infrastructure and customer environments.
- Perform data centre walk-through during each shift to check for abnormal conditions, such as unlocked cabinets/cages, unlocked PDUs, audible/visual alarms on equipment.
- Must work holidays that fall on scheduled shifts, have the flexibility to work extra shifts as required by management.
- Understand the facility critical systems (power, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, security); respond to alarms in accordance with department procedures.
- When appropriate, escalate issues quickly and efficiently to solve problems within Sungard AS’ Service Level Agreement requirements.

**Profile**:

- College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience. Desirable.
- 1 to 2 years’ Data Centre experience. Desirable.
- Data Center experience. Desirable.
- Service Now/Secure Site Access experience. Desirable.
- Microsoft tools experience (office/word/excel/outlook etc). Desirable.
- Network knowledge. Desirable.
- Visio experience. Desirable.
- Flexible with hours/days when needed. Essential.
- Willing to cross train. Essential.
- Take training courses. Desirable.
- Rotating shift work, weekends and holidays included. Pays OT. Essential.
