Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to assist in the completion of all facets of the management accounting functions for St-Constant including month end processing, coordination and preparation of monthly plant cost reports, forecasts, budgets and financial information for the plant.

**Responsibilities**:

- Safety:_
- Follows and ensures full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures all contracts and project site meet the Lafarge safety policy requirements for our employee’s safety.
- Reporting:_
- Schedule and run the month-end closing process for the St-Constant plant while ensuring that Regional and Corporate deadlines are met.
- Participate in the preparation of the St-Constant monthly financial reports, budgets and forecast to ensure achievement of plant operating and financial objectives.
- Maintain all financial records for St-Constant plant.
- Prepare reports for plant production, product unit costs, department costs, raw material costs and comparison reports for decision making.
- Evaluate monthly accounting results and variances for commentary input for the monthly plant report to Senior Management.
- Reconciliation of asset and liability accounts for plant to audit all transactions and ensure all balances are accurately stated in the Corporation’s balance sheet.
- Complete external reporting requirements for the St-Constant plant (i.e. Statistics Canada, PCA, etc.).
- Budgeting and inventory:_
- Participate in the discussion with the Finance Manager and Plant Director to develop annual plant budget and monthly forecasts to ensure achievement of plant operating and financial objectives.
- Manage St-Constant raw material and finished good inventories on a monthly basis.
- Reconciliation of annual physical count to book values. Review and analyze St-Constant capital expenditures.
- Internal controls and systems:_
- Continuous development, review, and implementation of accounting policies to ensure adequate internal controls are maintained to ensure safeguarding of Company assets.
- Assist the Finance Manager with the implementation of new information systems at St-Constant plants (i.e. SAP, MBP Tool, TIS, and PIMS).
- Operations:_
- Maintain knowledge of ongoing operations in order to fulfill role of St-Constant Finance Manager when he/she is absent.
- Manage the administrative employees as payroll, accounts payables and training.
- Fulfill requests for information from St-Constant Plant Manager, Ecan Regional Head Office staff and Shared Service Centre staffs to assist in decision making.
- Act as primary contact for additional information requests for Toronto corporate office accounting related issues. Complete external reporting requirements for the St-Constant plant (i.e. Statistics Canada, PCA, etc.).

Other duties as assigned.

**Relationships with other jobs**:

- Works closely with Finance Manager and plant staff at all levels from supervisors to Managers.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- The incumbent acts as the Administrative / Accounting stakeholder and back up to the Finance Manager.
- In this regard, the incumbent must be able to manage the administrative / accounting department responsibilities and act as Finance Manager during absences.
- The incumbent must ensure that the financial reporting for St-Constant is consistent with generally accepted accounting principles and with Company accounting and administration policies and that the financial impact of decisions is consistent with the strategies developed to achieve both plant operating and financial objectives.

Qualifications:

- Education and Work Experience_
- University degree in a business program
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar accounting position.
- 2 to 3 years of cost calculations
- Recent designate or enrolled and progressing at a senior level in CPA program
- Knowledge and Skills_
- Manufaturing industry experience and accounting cycle
- Previous experience using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Self-starter with initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Previous experience with SAP
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
