Family Counsellor

The **Kingston Military Family Resource Centre **(KMFRC) is **a registered non-profit, charitable organization **that supports and enhances the health and well-being of the military community. **Title**: Family Counsellor

**Position**:Full-Time

**Position Function: The Family Counsellor Position **provides initial and continued contact, assessment and referral, short term individual, couple counselling and /or crisis intervention, group work, and educational services. Services involve working with military families. This includes, but is not limited to, family violence, child abuse, critical incidents, suicidal ideation and depression, bereavement, marital issues, separation and divorce issues, special needs, severe behaviour disorders, family of origin dysfunction, substance abuse, blended families, and other military lifestyle issues.

**Desired Minimum Knowledge, Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant Mental Health Field (e.g. Social Work, Counselling, Psychology) with two years of related clinical experience (mandatory requirement);
- Registered with the appropriate college, such as Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Experience in providing services for individuals, couples, children and families;
- Proven experience working directly with families, groups and communities, especially around loss, grief and trauma;
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Excellent written and oral skills in English and French (an asset);
- Experience in developing and managing budgets;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Knowledge of local and national resources (an asset);
- Exceptional understanding of the unique military lifestyle issues facing CAF families.

- Salary: $52,056 per annum  (after probation)

**Fonctions liées au poste : Le titulaire du poste de conseiller familial **assure le contact initial et continu, l’évaluation et l’orientation, le counseling individuel et de couple à court terme ou l’intervention en cas de crise, le travail de groupe et les services éducatifs. Ces services comprennent une collaboration avec les familles des militaires. Cela comprend, sans toutefois s’y limiter, la violence familiale, la maltraitance des enfants, les incidents critiques, les idées suicidaires et la dépression, le deuil, les problèmes conjugaux, les problèmes de séparation et de divorce, les besoins spéciaux, les troubles graves du comportement, le dysfonctionnement de la famille d’origine, la toxicomanie, les familles reconstituées et d’autres problèmes liés au mode de vie militaire.
