**Rate of Pay**:$18/hour + $3/hr wage enhancement

- Barrett House is a seven-bed residential home in Napanee supporting the needs of children and youth in care. Barrett House utilizes evidence-based behavioural programming to support males between the ages of 8 and 17 with developmental disabilities._

**PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVES**:
Ø To determine and meet the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of each child and youth in our care.

Ø To assist each child and youth with the attainment of meaningful, achievable, and measurable goals.

Ø To teach each child and youth foundational social, behavioural, vocational, and educational skills and build their core competencies.

Ø To provide family support and after-care where possible and in conjunction with Family and Children’s Services.

Ø To use an evidence-based approach to understand and reduce any interfering behaviour(s).

**DUTIES**:
The Residential Counsellor reports to the Director, Supervisor(s), and the Behaviour Therapist at Barrett House. The Residential Counsellor will perform the following duties and demonstrate the following abilities:
Ø Work with the Supervisor(s) to plan, organize, and facilitate activities and daily programming for children and youth in consultation with the Supervisor(s)

Ø Manage and administer medication

Ø Implement group and individual behaviour management programs; engage in and support data collection procedures and behavioural assessments

Ø Complete tasks and duties as directed from the Supervisor(s)

Ø Support children/youth with daily needs, crisis prevention, and counselling

Ø Support children/youth with daily needs within a home/educational setting

Ø Work closely with outside agencies and families

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

Ø Currently enrolled in or completed a post-secondary program in a related field (Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Services, Community and Justice Services)

Ø Current First Aid and CPR

Ø Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certificate

Ø Current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check including a vulnerable sectors check

Ø Consent to a Child Welfare check

Ø Valid driver’s licence, vehicle and satisfactory driver’s abstract

**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**

Ø Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting

Ø Experience working with children and youth demonstrating challenging behaviours

Ø Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis and experience implementing behavioural support plans

**Qualifications**:
First Aid and CPR

CPI - Non Violent Physical Crisis Intervention

Secondary School Enrollment / Diploma

**Additional Requirements**: NVPCI Certification
