**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Public Health Mobile Unit and working closely with the Public Health Mobile Unit Leadership Team and across the public health system and with the Department of Health and Wellness (DHW), the Public Health Mobile Unit Manager provides an expert level of advice and strategic leadership to the operational planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs, standards, and protocols for Public Health Mobile Unit work within the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

The position works with public health leaders, staff, and other stakeholders, including provincial government departments, to support action at local, zone and provincial levels to protect the health of Nova Scotians as defined by the Health Protection Act (HPA) and regulations under the HPA.

The Manager provides leadership and advanced knowledge in programs, policies, models, and strategies to prevent the spread of communicable diseases, implement publicly funded immunization programs, and protect the public from health hazards and ensure public health preparedness for emergencies. The Manager must also contribute to and ensure routine and enhanced surveillance is conducted across the province through the Public Health Mobile Unit program, in collaboration with partners, and that reports are completed as required.

The Manager sets conditions for the public health system to succeed by developing key internal and external partnerships, leveraging resources, developing processes, measuring results, and working collaboratively across zones, networks, communities, and organizations through the work of the Public Health Mobile Unit.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Masters in public health, health promotion, community development or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a relevant leadership position.
- Baccalaureate degree in public health, health promotion, community development or other relevant field with a minimum of 5-7 years relevant leadership position.
- Proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health.
- Training in IAP2 and customer service an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders using a variety of methods.
- Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to support public health work.
- Demonstrated judgment, decisions making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations including the NS Health Protection Act, NS Health Authorities Act etc. (add equity acts)

**About You Continued**:

- In depth knowledge of Public Health programs and functions. Experience in the planning, development and evaluation of public health programs, services and initiatives based on surveillance data, epidemiology, community assessment and best practice models.
- Innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with communities to protect against communicable diseases, health hazards and emergencies.
- Proficiency in LEADS
- Demonstrated high standards of ethics, integrity, respect, accountability and upholding the public interest, and ability to use them effectively in decision-making.
- Leadership skills consisting of team building, conflict resolution, goal setting, coaching, mentoring, delegation, change-leadership.

**Hours**:

- Permanent Full Time /100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- This position is eligible to participate in our work from home program
- Occasional travel throughout the province may be required

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$45.45 - $60.39 Hourly
