**Position Summary**

The Head Badminton Professional reports directly to the Director of Athletics. This role is responsible for ensuring that Members receive the highest standards of badminton instruction and customer service in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in the Badminton Gym. This role is responsible for providing badminton instruction and coaching, designing and developing effective badminton programs; and administration-related tasks associated with badminton services at the Club. The Head Badminton Professional recruits and manages effective assistant badminton professionals, who help with the delivery of instruction and coaching services for Members through badminton programs, clinics and camps. This role is responsible for overseeing and administering the badminton program and promoting the game of badminton to Members by providing programming for all levels, ages, and abilities. The Head Badminton Professional is also expected to be involved in running tournaments, lessons, clinics and supporting league play.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Customer Service - 25%_
- Ensure that all Members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to their needs; utilize feedback to improve departmental operations and member satisfaction
- Go above and beyond to demonstrate awareness and understanding of Hollyburn’s aim to deliver exceptional service to its Members
- Communicate and encourage staff to consistently meet and exceed the Club’s service goals
- Anticipate, react and introduce new programs to meet service needs
- Management of Badminton Gym - 25%_
- Develop badminton facilities, programs and events in cooperation with Director of Athletics and Badminton Committee
- Supervise enforcement of Club policies pertaining to dress, eye protection, court usage, court booking etc.
- Contribute badminton-related content to the VIEW newsletter on a regular basis
- Input the Badminton programs into the online GameTime Gym schedule
- Management of Programs and Events - 20%_
- Coordinate, oversee and promote various on-court programs including: city leagues, house leagues (Adult Morning and Evening League), junior and adult programming for beginners to advanced levels of play, Club tournaments and mixers
- Provide Badminton Coaching to ensure that Hollyburn players are well versed in technical skills involved in badminton; proper rules, techniques, etc.
- Attend and support Members at tournaments. Or schedule Coaches to attend in the Head Pros absence. Members can be charged coaching fees to cover Coach’s tournament hours.
- Mentor Hollyburn youth and foster positive relationships between Badminton professionals and Members
- Attend regular Athletics department meetings
- Attend Badminton Committee meetings regularly and assist Badminton Committee in planning social events and tournaments
- Cross-Functional Work Relationships - 20%_
- Maintain external relationship with Badminton BC
- Maintain external relationship with Badminton Canada Games Committee
- Liaise with Food & Beverage to ensure events and tournaments are communicated to Member Services in timely manner; work in collaboration for any food and beverage needs for tournaments or events
- Liaise with Plant Engineering to ensure that badminton courts and facilities are in working condition and are safe for Members; communicate tournament setups in a timely manner
- Coordinate with Accounting department with regards to all Badminton program billings; ensure that manual billings are accurate and submitted on time
- Ensure upcoming events or tournaments are communicated to Member Services, Plant Engineering, and Food and Beverage departments in a timely manner
- Ensure that program registration information and details are prepared and submitted to Athletic Manager in a timely manner adhering to deadlines
- Coordinate with other Athletics departments to develop multi-sports camps and programs
- Management of Department Personnel - 10%_
- Responsible for recruiting, training and supervising all other staff relating to the Badminton program

- NCCP certification - current Level III or equivalent coaching certificate/experience
