2025-142 FT Peer Environmental Service Worker, ICH - External

**Job Summary**:
This incumbent performs custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that the Agency’s Integrated Care Hub property is maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. The Peer Environmental Service worker will provide side by side intervention, coaching and encouragement to Assist unhoused individuals in gradually building independence in maintaining a clean and safe living environment. Working collaboratively with individuals, team members, and community stakeholders, the incumbent will lead by championing the sanitation of the community and work alongside individuals, building knowledge, skills, and confidence for household management skills and hygiene in their living space. All services are provided in accordance with the mission and established protocols of the Agency and the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Completion of OSSD
- Certificate or diploma in environmental services preferred
- Two years of relevant environmental services experience required
- Paid or volunteer experience working with individuals who live with a serious mental illness, dual diagnosis or concurrent disorder, preferably in a community setting
- Ability to utilize own personal, practical experience, self-knowledge and first-hand insight to benefit clients and team members
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
- Crisis Prevention & Intervention training
- WHMIS training
- French Language proficiency considered an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment
- Ability to utilize own personal, practical experience, self-knowledge and first-hand insight to benefit clients and team members
- Ability to effectively utilize community resources and supports to meet the needs of clients
- Ability to work under pressure within a changing environment
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act and other relevant legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish rapport with persons living with a serious mental illness
- Well-developed problem-solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including the use of MS Office
- Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have regular access to a reliable vehicle and provide proof of $2,000,000 vehicle insurance. Incumbent may be required to transport clients.
- Required to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to hire.
