We provide care and independence to our residents, using a client *Job Responsibilities/duties Ø Working in group homes with individuals with developmental disabilities such as Spinal Cord Injury, Dementia and Down Syndrome Ø Assist clients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene and toileting Ø Perform delegated tasks for duties such as catheter care, suppositories, non-sterile dressings and mobilization routines for complex care clients Ø Administer medication to clients and provide medication reminders, in accordance to established policy Ø Plans, prepares and serves meals and shops for groceries Ø Observes clients and their environments and report unsafe conditions and behavioral and physical changes Ø Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as communication books and progress notes Ø Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications Ø Grade 12 completion Ø Health Care Aide/Residential Care Aide certificate Ø Registration with BC Care Aide Association Ø Class 5 BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle (preferred)(Class 4 Driver’s license is an asset) Ø Up to date immunization record including a current TB test within 1 year. Ø A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days Ø Current Standard First Aid & Level C CPR Ø Able to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills to manage your schedule. Ø Compassionate, respectful, and sincere manner, with ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills. Ø This is a physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately fifty-five (55) pounds, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement.
